Castle Hill Gardens

Castle Hill is truly a Garden for All Seasons.  This family friendly 50 acre garden near South Molton surrounds the magnificent Palladian house, seat of the Fortescues since 1454.  The house was built in 1730 as the Earl Fortescue’s family home in North Devon. Today, Castle Hill is home to his descendants, the Earl and Countess of Arran. It is set in a spectacular 18th century parkland landscape punctuated with statues, follies and temples built by each generation of the Fortescues.

Younger visitors can head for the Tanglewood Tree for a chance to climb on one of the oldest trees in the garden plus there is a variety of things to see and activities for children to enjoy.

You can take a picnic and after a walk around the gardens you can enjoy a cream tea or local ice-cream at the garden kiosk. Dogs on leads are welcome.
